Top Online MBA Programs for Female Students 2019

The online MBA program at Spain’s EU Business School has the highest percentage of female students of those featured in the QS Online MBA Rankings 2019, with 54 percent of its cohort identifying as female.

Released today, the QS Online MBA Rankings assess the online MBA offerings of 40 business schools worldwide, demonstrating just how easy it is to earn your MBA away from the classroom.

10) SBS Swiss Business School

Switzerland’s SBS Swiss Business School kicks off our top 10 for percentage of female students on an online MBA program, with 45 percent of its cohort identifying as female.

This year’s cohort is medium sized compared to other online programs with 60 students, of which 75 percent are international, and they have an average of seven years’ work experience.

Tuition for the program is the cheapest in the top 10 at US$17,571, with graduates enjoying an average salary of US$96,258. The average program duration is 24 months.

There are 15 modules on the SBS Online MBA, each taking eight weeks to complete. As well as online exam discussion boards and forums, and live webinar sessions.

The first of five top online MBA programs with 48 percent women in their cohort, La Trobe University Business School’s online offering allows students to complete their studies in as little as 12 months although the average program length is 21 months.

The program features boardroom simulations to allow for real-life experience learning, and students can also develop business consulting skills with the Enterprise Learning Project and International Study Tours.

The 26 students on La Trobe’s online MBA program have an average of 11.7 years’ work experience. Tuition fees for the program are US$40,145, with graduates earning an average salary of US$82,403.

The JWMI MBA scored a perfect 100 for class experience in this year’s ranking. The program is made up of 12 classes which are 10 weeks long, with students spending around 10-15 hours per week on each class. There are also four convenient start dates throughout the year: January, April, July, October.

Boasting the largest cohort in the top 10 with 316 students – of which 12 percent are international – participants have 14 years’ work experience, completing the program in an average of 24 months. However, the course can be completed anywhere from 18-36 months.

Tuition fees total US$46,200, with grads earning an average of US$100,300.

This year’s George Washington University online MBA program has 153 students in its cohort, three percent of which are international students. The class has an average of seven years’ work experience.

The average program length at George Washington is 42 months – but it can be completed in just three years. The program incorporates videos, video cases, podcasts, animations, and other pre-recorded content in addition to traditional reading assignments. 

Per course, students will participate in a one hour (per week) guided live classroom session, consisting of lectures, case discussions, and/or group activities, and are offered during evenings/weekends. 

Program tuition totals US$101,288.

Soaring up the ranks from 27th place to 12th overall this year is the MBA@American at American University’s Kogod Business School. The program’s strong performance is largely due to a high score for class profile and a perfect score for class experience.

Most students complete the program in 24 months, but it can also be completed on a 12-month, 15-month, or 18-month track. There are 12 core courses, three elective courses, and two in-person immersions. Students need to complete 48 credits to graduate.

There are 136 students in this year’s cohort, with an average of six years’ work experience. Only one percent of the class are international students. Tuition is US$81,984.

Hofstra University’s Frank G. Zarb School of Business’ online MBA scored highly for faculty and teaching this year, while also earning a perfect score for class experience.

The Online MBA program is a 45-credit MBA which features a curriculum divided into three broad areas: core competencies, advanced core, and major concentration.

If students adopt the non-cohort option, they have a maximum of five years to complete the program, but the average program length is 20 months.

Zarb’s 27-strong cohort have an average of 13 years’ work experience. Current tuition fees equal US$63,875, but graduates earn an average salary of US$149,794 post-program.

4) Michael J. Coles College of Business

Michael J. Coles College of Business at Kennesaw State University offers a WebMBA which earned high scores for its class profile and class experience this year.

For five consecutive terms, students take two courses each in a lock-step schedule, meaning students graduate in about 20 months.

There are 33 students on the program with an average of nearly nine years’ work experience. Only one percent of students are classified as international. This is one of the cheaper programs in our top 10 for female students, with tuition fees totalling just US$24,370.

Curtin Graduate School of Business’s CGSB MBA shares second place in our table of the top online MBA programs for female students.

As with other programs on this list, international students make up just one percent of the program, which is the second smallest cohort with 15 students. Participants have an average of 14 years’ work experience, while students taking an average of 35 months to complete the program.

Students can opt for the generalist MBA or study one of two majors: oil and gas (in partnership with Aberdeen Business School at Robert Gordon University) or leadership.

Tuition equals US$33,384, with students enjoying an average post-program salary of US$119,457.

The second university to rank in second place for female representation is Kent State University. Its AACSB accredited online MBA admits students throughout the year, with courses undertaken in eight-week modules.

Some concentrations available for specialized learning include international business and supply chain management. There’s also a study abroad opportunity available for students.

Students have an average of six years’ work experience and complete the program in an average of 24 months. Tuition is US$29,880.

Although in second place, it should be noted that Kent State University’s percentage of female students is inflated slightly by the fact it has the smallest online MBA cohort in our ranking, so the total number of female students is actually much greater elsewhere.

1) EU Business School

Our top online MBA program for female students is EU Business School’s online MBA program, which also scored highly for employability, class profile and class experience.

Students receive a state-accredited MBA from the University of Roehampton in London, as well as their EU degree.

The blended program incorporates interactive webinars and business simulations with on-campus weeks for networking.

There are 85 students in the cohort – which boasts 100 percent international students – who have an average of nine years’ work experience. The average length of time spent to complete the program is 15 months, but it can be completed in just one year.

Students will pay US$19,946 in tuition, and can expect an average salary of US$140,000 after graduating.
